Known Issues and Limitations

Issue or limitation Workaround
The shader does not work with mental ray core version prior to 3.3, this is due to a newer and required version of the KD tree. Use 3.3 or later.
SDS (SubDivision Surfaces) are not supported yet Convert to polymeshes or NURBS.
Network parallelism is not supported yet. None.
Absorption and scattering coefficients may require 4 or more digit numbers after the comma, some OEM UI's show only 3 digits in regular field numbers. However, extra digits are interpreted correctly. None.
Objects should have an entering and exiting surface in order to store photons correctly, open surfaces/meshes/sds (when supported) may cause storage problems. Model with an eye on the storing process, think volumetrically.
